General Information

Every 4th, 5th and 6th grader in Los Altos School District is invited to participate in the Annual Junior Olympics! This event brings together the seven LASD elementary schools for a friendly track & field competition, in which everyone is encouraged to strive for their personal best and cheer on their classmates as they compete. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult. More information and important Junior Olympics dates are available at lasdjo.com.

Event Choices

Students may participate in up to 3 of the following 8 individual events + one team relay (if a qualifier). Events are organized by grade / gender:

  • 1320 yard distance run
  • 75 yard dash
  • 60 yard hurdles
  • basketball free throw
  • chin-ups
  • softball throw
  • standing long jump
  • 30 second jump rope
  • 4 x 100 m relay

T-Shirts

All participants will need to have a school Junior Olympics t-shirt. Fourth graders will receive a complimentary JO shirt. Please make sure to keep your shirt as they will use it again in the fifth and sixth grade (consider ordering a larger size than usual as the shirts run small and you will use them in upcoming years). Additional shirts are $15 each. The default size is Adult Small.

Great Community Event

School communities come out for Junior Olympics! The kids have fun marching with their school in opening ceremonies, cheering for their classmates during events, and doing their best after 7 weeks of training. Every 4th, 5th, and 6th grader is encouraged to participate.
