I teach special education, specializing in language and communication. I earned my Master of Arts in Education from California State University Monterey Bay and hold an Education Specialist Instruction Credential. Coming to Loyola, I bring twenty years of experience working with youth; the last seven of which I taught for Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. It's an honor to continue my journey with all of you!
As a teacher, I help shape the students into the people they will become, which is a responsibility I take seriously and feel very passionate about. I strive to weave equity, empathy, and empowerment to create a classroom community that is safe, accepting, and fun. Beyond content I teach my students life skills, foster creativity, inspire them to dream, to make goals, and to realize their potential. It is important for students to be global citizens, aware of the world around them, and they learn more when lessons are relevant to them. This can take place through their interests, engaging in everyday tasks, and partnering with the community. It is my goal to continuously improve my instructional practice in order to be a more effective teacher and therefore maximize my studentsí learning opportunities and chance of having a fulfilling life outside of school. I am dedicated to improving the lives of my students by being a voice for them as they find their own. I believe all students are our students and I look forward to building positive relationships throughout campus.
When I am not teaching, I love visiting family, exploring nature, and spending time with my husband. We enjoy taking road trips and have been to over 300 national parks! I also enjoy the arts, relaxing at home, and completing things from my life-list.
